Sonault
Stays out of your way.
A featherweight native app that opens before your NLE finishes splashing. Here's what's inside.
Paste and keep working
YouTube and Freesound links queue instantly and download in the background. A toast tells you when each sound is ready to save or trim.
One video, many sounds
Select a region, add it to the list, move on. Every segment saves as its own sound, labels carried over between cuts.
Instant search
⌘K searches your whole library, ranked by titles, labels, and channels. Nine sounds or nine thousand, results are immediate.
Labels, your way
Color-coded labels for whatever taxonomy lives in your head. Whoosh, reels, client-x, do-not-lose.
Drag a whole label out
Drag a label from the sidebar and every sound in it comes along. A full category onto your timeline in one gesture.
Lives in your menu bar
Quick search and recent sounds without opening the app. Or drop a link straight onto the icon to import it.
Favorites
Pin the sounds you reach for on every project. They surface first, always.
Waveforms everywhere
Every card shows its waveform, so you recognize a sound by shape before you press play.
Local, real files
Your library is a folder of plain audio files you control. Reveal it in Finder anytime. No cloud, no lock-in.
Trusted fast support
Real help from a human whenever you need it. We respond within 24 hours.
Private & local
Your sounds never leave your Mac. Nothing uploaded, nothing shared, nothing trained on.
Satisfaction guarantee

Questions, answered.
Is this a subscription?
No. You pay once and the app is yours. Founder licenses include free updates for all 1.x versions.
Does it work with my editor?
Yes. Every sound in Sonault is a real local audio file. If your editor accepts dragged audio files (DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, Audition, and others), it works.
Can I bring the sound library I already have?
Yes. Drag a whole folder of sound effects onto Sonault and everything lands in one pass, so you are not re-importing years of files one by one. Your originals stay where they are.
Can I pull the audio out of my own video files?
Yes. Drag a video from your Mac into Sonault and it keeps only the audio, then you trim it on the waveform like any other sound. The video file itself is left untouched.
Where are my sounds stored?
In a normal folder on your Mac. No cloud, no proprietary database lock-in. Back it up with Time Machine like everything else.
What macOS versions are supported?
macOS 14 Sonoma and later, on both Apple Silicon and Intel.
How do I activate it? Is there a license key?
No keys to copy-paste. After you buy, download the app and sign in with the email you used at checkout. We send a 6-digit code to confirm it's you, and the app unlocks.
Can I use it on more than one Mac?
Yes. One license covers up to 3 Macs at the same time, and you can swap a seat to a new Mac anytime from inside the app.
What about the legality of ripping YouTube audio?
Sonault is a tool, like a screen recorder. You are responsible for having the rights to the audio you import. Many editors use it for royalty-free packs, their own uploads, and licensed content.
What if I don't like it?
Email us within 14 days of purchase and we refund you. No forms, no questions.
